Please Pardon The Interruption

It is Tuesday and yes, normally there would be a Tasty Tuesday post.  However, today I must interrupt the norm to tell a story.

Once upon a time (eight years ago today to be exact) a girl and her best friend woke up early on a Saturday morning.  They ate a light breakfast and then went to a little, Dolly-Parton-Steel-Magnolias-esque beauty shop and had their hair done and then went by McDonald's and got a big fat greasy burger.  While the girl's mother and aunts were at the golf course in the banquet room dazzling it up with mason jars and flowers and all that jazz.

Later in a church a boy would be there early and sitting in a pew with his head down.  The girl's best friend would see him and not think too much of it.  A lady from the church would see him and tell people he was crying.  While that best friend would be applying finishing touches of Mary Kay to the girl they would swear they heard the boy puking in the bathroom next door.

Thoughts would rush through the girl's head....maybe I shouldn't do this.  Maybe this isn't right.  Maybe I'm making a big mistake.  Maybe I'm scared out of my mind.  But her best friend would give her that warm smile and reassure her she was fine and everything would be okay.

Fast forward to violins and a fairly crowded church.  A girl in a white dress walking down the aisle with her dad.  Her best friend smiling at her and the boy standing there with a smirk on his face.  The minister from the girl's childhood, now grey and a bit aged smiling as the kid who used to gut punch him was now leaving childhood all together.

A very fast ceremony which included a candle lighting and gorgeous rendition of I Do by Paul Brandt and the girl unable to stand still and rocking (unaware!) the entire wedding!!!

They would take some pictures and eventually make their way to that golf course banquet hall and greet all their friends and relatives from near and far.  There was no dancing....just talking and meeting and smiling and blurriness.

Its so sad how rushed and blurry those immensely special days are.

Later that night that girl would be a wife and that boy would be a husband and they would share a pizza and pass out from shear exhaustion from the day that would change their lives.

7 1/2 years after that day their house would fall into a hole and the bride would lose the wedding album that held all their pictures.  Thank goodness for Facebook and the internet....

I love you....more and more and more and more than I could have ever known.  You have my whole heart and spirit.  I cannot wait for 80 more.
