What's For Dinner?

We made our trip to Sam's right before the new year began.  I love to buy meat there because I have found it is really fresh as compared to some stores.  I generally buy the big packs and break them down.  One favorite is the fresh cut pork chops.  Out of one pack I get enough for 5-6 meals.

Pork is one of those meats that goes great with the savory and sweet recipes.  Think about it - pork with pineapple glaze, pork and brown sugar, and one of my most favorites pork with apples!

Here's a yummy recipe for the cool/cold months that you cannot go wrong with!

Apple Sauce Pork Chops

3-4 Pork Chops (I prefer bone in because the bone gives great flavor)
1 1/2 cups of unsweetened apple sauce
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
2 teaspoons of mustard
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
2 apples, peeled/cored/sliced
1 yellow onion diced
Salt & Pepper to taste
3 tablespoons of butter

On the stove top melt 2 tablespoons of butter and cook your onion and apple slices til tender.  This takes about five minutes.  Transfer to a bowl.
Brown each pork chop on both sides in the same pan you tenderized the apples and onion in.

In another bowl stir together your applesauce, cinnamon, mustard, and brown sugar.

After the chops are browned lightly salt and pepper and place in a 9x13 baking dish. Pour your apples and onion into the applesauce mixture.  Stir it up and spoon over your pork chops.

Bake at 350 for forty minutes.

Yummy!
