Just Makin' & Bakin'

Pass the dang nutmeg we are into week three of December now.  Ummmmm......am I the only one who finds this totally depressing?  All this festivity and fun that leads up to the BIG DAY and then you blink and the holidays are over.  I swear it is a big ole POOF and gone.

I'm trying not to get too sad as I look at the calendar.

Plus, I have so much fun stuff to do this week....

Gingerbread Cookies 101

We are baking....

Well, mama is.  Baking up some snicker doodle cookies, ranger cookies gingerbread cookies, Christmas crack, and cow patty cookies.
I just lost anyone from an urban area and anyone who has no relatives in the south or midwest.  Did she say she is making crack?  Oh my word!  No, no, not that kind of crack!  Saltine crackers, caramel, chocolate, m&m's....that kind of crack.  The kind that has no street value but total gift basket charm.
Then you read cow patty cookies and you may have thought - Oh organic!  She uses manure, very nice addition when you subtract out gluten and white sugar.  Will have to try.  Calm yourselves, white girls.  No I don't sub in poop they just look like a cow patties that have been smooshed down by a tractor.  They taste like heaven.  All is safe (with the white sugar, peanut butter, oats, and everything nice.)

As if that wasn't enough baking I'm also having four of my daughter's friends over to bake on Friday after school.  #helpmejesus

We are watching...

ELF!  That is the movie I have picked for this week.  I have some other stuff DVR'd for the kids.

We are making.....

Well the kids are painting some ornaments this week.  I bought some of the 97 cent ones at Walmart to keep them occupied one night this week (maybe).

We are celebrating....

Both kids wrap up school this week.  Our son is having a Christmas program on Wednesday at his school.  My daughter's is on Friday at her school.  She also has a Christmas party at our church.  Oh and both kids are to go decorate a Christmas tree at their Pappaw's this week.  Wait a second I just remembered we have company coming on Saturday (way to go, Amanda).  Sunday is a little Christmas program at my mom's church the kids are participating in.

I just got a little more busy than expected!

Share your fun holiday plans for this week!  Have you made anything cool lately?  Baked up something divine?  Had a dinner to die for?  Share it here or over on the Facebook Page!

Just Makin' & Bakin' (Week 2)

This week, in honor of the holiday season, we are doing some more super fun things around the house. Check out what shenanigans we’re getting into!

Making it…

I subscribe to Whats Up Moms on YouTube (and you should too!)  This past weekend one of the videos was some incredibly easy mason jar luminaries.  All they require is some spray paint, mason jars, a good Sharpie, and a stencil.  Really!  It is that easy.  I plan to make a few for gifts.

Baking it…

Good old fashioned sugar cookies!  The kids each got a new cookie cutter compliments of Old Salem this past weekend and we’re ready to use them.

Watching it…

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is on tap as well as our favorite Wednesday Night ABC shows (The Middle and The Goldbergs.)  I love Modern Family but that is after bedtime for the kids so I will be sure to DVR it and Blackish (the best new sitcom on television if you ask me!)

Participating in…

Our church is hosting a drive thru nativity that is 100% kids!  Yep, the kids are the angels, shepherds, kings, Mary, Joseph, sheep, donkeys…you get it EVERYTHING!

Pinning it….

20 Magical Christmas Morning Breakfast Ideas:

Christmas Breakfast ideas!  This year I’m hosting my mom, her husband and my brother for Christmas breakfast.  You’ll see a lot of pins popping up over on my Holidays 2015 board on Pinterest!

Just Makin' & Bakin'

Good evening!

This is my second two-a-day post.  Yesterday I shared a Christmas Decorating post and then a look at how November turned out and my personal goals for December.

If you missed it, this morning I recapped our Thanksgiving break.

Tonight, I'm sharing with you the holiday goodness I'm hoping to complete this week.

We are coloring!

free Christmas coloring sheets

I found these awesome Christmas coloring sheets (that you can turn into ornaments) over at Pink Stripey Socks :)  I printed sheets for both kids and myself to color together.

We are baking!

Easy Christmas tree brownies

I love brownies (duh, but that is not where my blog name comes from).  Over at She Knows there is an adorable brownie Christmas tree baking idea.  Last week, Lowes Foods had Duncan Hines brownie mixes for a buck a piece.  I picked up some icing today (no, I'm not trying to be all Mrs. Homemade right now!) and all that is left is letting the kids have a blast.

Mama is shopping!

Between a little mid November deal finding and some great Thanksgiving/Cyber Monday buys my list is nearly all checked off!  This week I'm hoping to complete the remaining gift buying.  My goal?  Have 90% finished by Friday!

We are watching!

Holiday Specials!  Charlie Brown's Christmas came on on Monday.  However, ABC fiddle-faddled around and didn't show the cartoon until 9 PM.  Bad, bad, bad ABC!  My kids just came off Thanksgiving break and had just finished up their first day back to school.  They could not make it through the 9:00 hour!  Thank you DVR!

Thursday ABC is back at it with Toy Story's The Toy That Time Forgot, Shrek's Christmas Special, and the CMA Country Christmas.

We are celebrating!
I'm not sure what we're doing this weekend but it is either a trip to a light show or a trip to visit Mr. Claus.
