What A Weekend

Ugh, Monday so soon? I'm looking at the week we have started and it isn't looking too shabby! But the weekend? Now that was pretty fun!

Friday!

He found love in the Chickfila Play Place...her name may be Dorothy because she was dressed like her.

Ready to get their shop on...well one of them is.

The kids were out of school so we took it to the mall. I know I am brave! Actually, it was a great trip. We only went to one store - Justice. I'm happy to report they have toned down the glitter and sequins and I didn't leave seeing spots this trip! My daughter had birthday $$$ for Justice so she blew threw it and racked up several tops and pants for the cool weather.

P.S. The cool weather came in on Friday! I bitched and complained on Snap about it. Secretly, I didn't mind it too bad.

Friday afternoon the daughter had a hair appointment. I'm so glad she wanted it short again. Does anyone else have issues with getting their daughters to BRUSH THEIR HAIR? Then when they don't and you have to do it they scream bloody freakin' murder because of tangles? Yeah. Well we are stacked wedge again and this mama is singing hallelujah aaaaamen.

Saturday!
You know what I love? Getting up and going straight to the gym. Too bad that didn't happen on Saturday. Instead I got up and waited until 10:45 to go to the gym. That sucked and made my work out suck even more.

I pulled through it and felt good.

The kids spent the day with their Papa (that is the step grandparent who is more of a grandparent than the blood linked male grandparents.)

After the regular Saturday pit stop at Hellmart, I mean Walmart (see abullnojoke on Snap Chat) I made it home.

Saturday brought a project which I am not sharing here on ABW but will feature elsewhere after October 31st. God, I'm vague, right?

Saturday night we headed up the road, towards the mountains but not quite to the mountains, and celebrated our friend Shane's 39th birthday. Unfortunately, I did not have cell service there (hello NC boonies aka Wilkes County) and I didn't get any good pictures (that's two weekends in a row but that will change in a couple weeks too.)

Our kids had a freaking blast running around and playing with the puppy dogs.

Sunday!

We slept late because we got home so late. It was nice.

I finished that project that I mentioned under Saturday that I am terribly vague about.

The kids went off with their Grandma Joyce to a fall festival (two in one weekend, score!) for the late afternoon.

And my Patriots got another W with Gronk meeting a record that he will hopefully break next weekend!

My fantasy still sucks even though I have the fabulous Gronk and Sweet Feet White.

I wanted to be lazy and chill out all day with my husband but that didn't happen. Oh I'm talking about my real husband not the guy you may think I am with....LOL!

Monday, May I?

Sigh...life is hard when most of the people you like the most in the world are elderly and you are not, because they have to die and you have to spend the rest of your life missing them.:
Via Pinterest

Last week I met my goals!
*Yes to easing back into my work outs. My knee is doing fantastic! Now if I can remember my Fitbit.
*Yes to vacuuming out my car! Did that on Thursday.
*Yes to a fun Friday with my kiddos. They had a blast at the mall, Chickfila, and getting a cake pop for being so good in Kohl's.

This week...
*Add in legs and arms days instead of whatever jumble of running and legs I am doing to my work outs.
*Go to bed before midnight every night but Friday.
*Start and end my day with 16oz of water.

Are these boring or what?

Do you have a small goal this week? Share it! How was your weekend? I want to know!

Monday, May I?

Photo: Monday you are so difficult after a holiday break. Be easy, please!

A few years ago when this kid named Royal was my blogging bestie we posted Monday, May I? Every week. Actually she did it first and since I was new I just copied her. Royal no longer blogs because she moved to Raleigh and is living the posh life. But here I am bringing it back to life because I'm in Winston and living the not-so-posh life. LOL! <3 ya Royal!

The point behind Monday, May I? was basically sharing three goals for the week and making yourself accountable for them. Every Monday, I check back on what I posted the week before and share if I met the goals or if I epic failed them.

Sometimes my goals are vanilla but sometimes they are rocky road swirled with black olives, deviled eggs, and 80's LL Cool J.

This week...

So THAT'S the conversation they're having!?! #jointpain #muscleknots #MixedConnectiveTissueDisease:

You may know I have Achilles tendinitis and it sucks. You may also be aware that last Wednesday I really hurt my knee. It wasn't a major shock since the knee has been less than stellar for a couple months now but after roundhouse kicking and lunges and probably holding an inappropriate stance in the boxing portion of Wednesday's work out I totally blew my knee. It was pretty bad. I couldn't really walk or bare weight on my right leg. P.S. my right heel is the one that has tendinitis - total score there huh? It turns out I have a very common problem for people who do more running than anything else - Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome. If you have had it then you know how freaking bad it hurts. I took off three days from working out last week and that left me feeling like crap - my leg felt a little better but as far as my whole self I felt like poop. So this week my goal is to ease back into my work outs giving caution to my right knee and foot. This is difficult for me because I do not like to ease into anything at all. I'm a head first person. So um yeah this will be hard.

You're not truly a parentuntil you've swatted blindlyinto the backseat ofthe car hoping toconnect with a kid.

Goal number two is a pretty easy one. I want to vacuum out my crumb catcher a.k.a. my car. Once upon a time when I had no children my car stayed so nice and tidy. I vacuumed it out at least twice a week and Armour All-ed it once a week. Ahh that was a decade ago and my how times have changed. My backseat is littered with the evidence of children - books, cups, wrappers, crayons (eek), Legos, toys. The front is littered with the proof a mom drives the car - coffee cups galore, mail, calendars, work out clothes. Yes, I need to regain autmobile control.

via GIPHY
And...finally my last goal is this: Both kids have fall break at the end of the week so I want to have some fun stuff for them to do. My daughter's school is hosting their annual Fall Festival on Thursday night. Can I be very, blatantly honest with you and tell you I am not a fan of school events? Really, I'm not. But because my kid is all about it I guess I will take her the 300 yards from our humble abode and let her run around with her friends. (Oh man I just remembered I have to bake a cake for this event!)

OK there are my three goals...

Do you have some goals for this busy week of October? Do you have anything fun on the calendar this week? I'm so interested, so share!

My boyfriend & I had such a hard time getting up this morning!:

Monday, May I (Report & Get You GOING!)

Last week's goals:
1. Etch out some mommy daughter time.
2. Back to 14 miles this week.
And how it faired:
1. Did it. As reported in my H54F post.
2. Epic failure. Only got about 4 in.

Now let's get this week started with some positivity:

Monday, May I (tell you that TV is back?)

Last week:

1. Get 14 accomplished with the sneakers.
Well I got 10 in but not 14.

2. Go on a bike ride with my daughter.
Nope didn't get to this week. I asked if she wanted to and she was like, "Nah mom, its the Sabbath I think I should do anything but rest."

3. Start the hunt for furniture for the family room.
Yeah, no. We're going to do that next weekend.

4. Keep the air conditioning off all week.
Score! The old A/C has stayed off for well over a week now.

5. Take the multivitamin daily and not every 4th day, seriously.
I suck. DIdn't do it but once this week. I know why I'm not doing it daily - it makes me feel horrible. Even at bed time. I'm going to play with that this week.

This week's goals....

1. Etch out some mommy daughter time.
2. Back to 14 miles this week.

That is it.

So it is fall premier week on television and I'm wondering what you are watching and or excited about?

Did you see that Bradley Cooper is going to be on CBS in a spinoff show of his movie Limitless?

I miss this show with every ounce of my being. It was good television. Oh Barney...Barney come back!

Also, CBS used to be our go to Monday night channel when the best show ever - How I Met Your Mother was still on. After it ended so did our viewing of the CSI Network, I mean CBS. It looks like this week CBS is bringing their version of ABC's Modern Family to the viewership with {Life in Pieces}. The NY Times doesn't like this show but it could be OK for us mainstream peeps.

The nerd herd, Big Bang Theory, is back tonight at 8pm on CBS. This show makes me laugh but I'm not an avid viewer.

Gotham is on Fox at 8pm tonight. Season deux tonight and I hear a lot of people are into this. The most super hero anything I get into is my son running around saying he's Spidey.

Ughhhhh I'm over music shows like The Voice which is back on NBC tonight. I'm sure the viewership will be so high since fools are thinking that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani would really hook up.

HGTV fans: Love It Or List It returns tonight at 9pm. Side note: They are to start shooting in the Raleigh/Durham area soon!

And at 10:00

Castle is back on ABC
The Blindspot is premiering on NBC
And of course yet one of the millions of CSI's (NCIS) will be on CBS....

Tomorrow I'll highlight some Tuesday Premiere's!

Monday, May I? (I PASSED!)

After a sick Friday....healing up Saturday and great Sunday it is time to face another week. No probs. This week is jam packed with meetings, appointments, and life. I wouldn't have it any other way.

As you're reading this I'm probably in a first grade classroom. I will ask for many prayers. First grade is cute and sweet but man they are like little missiles of energy and mischievousness.

I hope your Monday finds you smiling...now let’s get to some goals.

From last week:

1. Clean out the truck

2. Pound the pavement

3. Reorganize the house

Can I tell you they all were completed!

This is the first week I get an A+ and I'm like, oh yeah take me for ice cream I did it.

This week I have some simple goals....

1. Get 14 accomplished with the sneakers.

2. Go on a bike ride with my daughter.

3. Start the hunt for furniture for the family room.

4. Keep the air conditioning off all week.

5. Take the multivitamin daily and not every 4th day, seriously.

Monday, May I (Get some support for being left)

1. Clean out the truck

2. Pound the pavement

3. Reorganize the house

Those were my goals for last week

1. I did not do. But I did clean out my car. I guess I"m moving that goal to a third week - LOL horrible!

2. I did do. Check!

3. Um maybe on my next week off. I couldn't get it done this past week and it won't happen this week either.

This week my goals are pretty straight forward...

1. For a third straight week: Vacuum the truck. I got all the toys and books out....now it just needs a good vacuuming. I can imagine you guys are thinking "oh my God Becky her truck is so disgusting.." It is not it just needs a good vacuuming.

2. Streamline all the blog's fonts. Have you happened to have noticed my blog goes between this cursive-esque font and a print font? Yeah, that's my fault. I'm trying to decide if I want to keep the cute font or go back to the basic print font. Your input is valuable on this. (Hint, hint!)

3. 12 mile goal this week. Condition for more running.

You got goals?

******

So the unofficial end of summer is today.

Last night i was thinking about it - the end of summer. It just breaks my heart. This marks the end of my 33rd summer on this planet. You would think after 33 years you would be like, I'm used to you leaving me summer, I'm so used to your games.

But I'm not.

I tried to get all pumped for fall by spending thirty minutes on Pinterest pinning away cute fall things.

It kind of helped.

But I'm still all longing for my lover....summer.

Here's the stuff I pinned, take a look, tell me what you think, follow the board, tell me about your board, I'll follow it.

I need all the support I can get because it sucks to be left.

<wink>

Monday, May I (Party)?

Last week’s goals:

1. Clean out our vehicles. Look, summer is over and they need a good cleaning. Carting around two kids for 9 weeks can really make your car smell funny and have weird things in the interior. Now is the time to get it in good shape again.

2. Go to the library alone. This shouldn't be difficult, ha that's what she said, right?

3. Pound the pavement.

And in actuality?

1. I cleaned out my car but not the truck. Meet goal number 1 for this week: Clean the truck.
2. I went to the library….not alone but with my three year old. He had fun, I cannot complain.
3. Pound the pavement. I only got one time to last week. Thus this goal moves on to this week.

So to recap this week’s goals:

1. Clean out the truck
2. Pound the pavement
3. Reorganize the house

What is up with number three? Well….certain rooms look horrible thanks to too much junk. I hope to get them cleaned right up and out!

What are your goals sugar pie?

Weekend Recap (because this is foreign to me)

The first week of school is a thing of the past...Saturday we slept in and then I made pancakes for the littles. Banana pancakes to be exact (Jack Johnson you're such an inspiration!)

Then the kids and I headed to Sam's Club to buy goodies for their birthday party. I can never get out of that place spending less than $100. I knew I would be over it this weekend....still buying those damned Pull Ups (and two birthday presents).

Saturday afternoon was spent running around the yard (kids and hubby). I got in a one hour nap. Biology can really whip your tail once a month if you're a female...just sayin'.

The grandparents picked up the kids later in the day on Saturday and they spent the night over at their place. The husband talked me into going to a fantasy football draft with him at Lake Norman.

It was boring. However, the view and another wifey and I had a great conversation about wine and books and the coast! When we finally got home around 11:30 I cleaned the house some. Oh yeah I'm wild.

Sunday was church, bad Mexican food, and the birthday party!

We partied this past weekend. Kid style! It was a very small affair. The Pappaw Doug E. Fresh and Granny J-oyce, the great grandma J-Dawg, the Nana, the Uncle Turtle Meat Avery, Aunt Shoe and Misty Twisty, and my fabulous bestie Ashwee and her sweet little fellas Will I Am and Levicutiepie

What? Are you jealous your family doesn't have these cool names?

When it comes to birthday parties my mindset is becoming more and more - smaller is so much better.

There's my weekend in a nutshell.

I hope your weekend was relaxing and just plain fabulous!
