What I Eat: Breakfast

I love breakfast.

Seriously....it is my most favorite meal of the day.

I love cereal, waffles, sausage, bacon, bagels, toast, omelets, eggs, syrup, jelly, casseroles, fruit, breakfast bars, ok you get it.

Realizing it is the key meal of the day and will often times foreshadow your eating pattern for that day I always make sure to pack in my protein at 6:30AM.

My go to breakfast is:

1 English Muffin, toasted
2 eggs, whisked with a dash of salt and pepper, cooked in the microwave for 90 seconds
1 slice of American Cheese

Throw it all on the muffin and you have a McMuffin - minus the preservatives.

Mmmm!

It will keep you satiated and the fact that those who eat eggs for breakfast are less likely to go overboard on eating through the day are two perfect reasons to enjoy this for breakfast!

Thankful: November 4th

I just broke my pattern of item, person.

Oh well.

Today is my mom's birthday. She is 75.

Just kidding.

Today isn't her birthday.

Just kidding.

Today is her birthday and she's actually 50.

That's what sucks about having a mom not much older than you....if I age her faster then I age myself a lot faster and well that's uncool.

Even though my mom and I are night and day I was blessed to have been given to her.

She's been a great nana and I'm lucky that my kids have her.

So happy birthday and thanks for everything.

Ideas: A Little Lady's Room

A couple rooms we may be able to work on prior to any on the main level are the ones upstairs.  Many people had no clue we had a half story in our home.  Indeed, we do!

Prior to the events of September, our room along with our son's were upstairs.  We had decided that one day both kids would be upstairs (harder to sneak out when their older....hehehe).  With all that we have went through thus far we decided why not go ahead and make the upstairs the children's domain.

Our son's room will basically go unchanged.  It is our daughter who will be getting a brand new room.  Hey, she deserves it!  She's had the same room (yes same nursery decor!) for seven years!

A few things you should know about our Diva...

1.  She's totally girly.  We're talking pink is her favorite color, she loves all things shiny and glittered!

2.  Currently, she has a fascination with all things French.

3.  She wants to be a teacher (God bless her heart).

4.  She tries to be older than she is. (God bless us).

So here are my ideas for her room.  Of course she'll be giving in put too!

Thankful: November 3

Yesterday was a thing today is a person.

Amy....

Dear Amy,

We have a bajillion insane, strictly blonde memories.  From beach trips to cruising.  Then life happened.
You were there for me through some crap and you are there for me again.  This time though, we have our mini-mes in tow (is that scary?).
I want to thank you for your friendship and kindness and awesome cooking you have given me.

I think the world of you - from families in minivans to men in trees with guns.

Love ya always

Thankful: November 2nd

Yesterday was a person today is a thing.

So many people love some Starbucks.  I'm a fan but not a fanatic.  So when I go to Starbucks I enjoy a White Chocolate Mocha....

Today would be a good day for that!

Its nice being able to just go grab something warm to drink on a cold day.  That's an extra in life not a necessity.  Remember all we need is water.  Somewhere along the lines we forgot the word need and became creatures that want.

I am stretching today's thankful blessing out.

I am thankful that if I really badly wish to have a white chocolate mocha I can hop in a car and go grab one.  In that one sentence are so many blessings --- a car, gas, nothing stopping me, the ability to pay, the ability to enjoy.

So see...what you thought was a stupid thankful for some kind of coffee turns into more.

What are you thankful for today?  Share it in the comments section or on the A Brownie World Facebook page.

Little Miss Matched

Tis the season for American Girl catalogs, the traditional department stores wish books, and malls to be packed to the gills.

Yes, the holidays have arrived!

I have two children to shop for.  Luckily, the youngest has no clue what all the hullabaloo over presents is.  I consider that a slight blessing!!!

My other child....well that's another story.

See, she's 7, and she's hit the apitome of "me, me, me" and "self, self, self"---- her wish list makes War & Peace look like a quick read.

A couple of weeks ago I checked the mail. As most of you know we aren't in our own home right now due to a little um unfortunate water event.  Each day I drive over to where our house was and collect our mail and all that fun jazz (and weep silently...haha just kidding only a couple days a week do I do that.)  What I found in the box made my seven year old beam with delight.

Have you ever heard of Little Miss Matched?  Oh my goodness!  Neither had I until the wish book arrived.  This is the stuff first, second, third....any young girl would love to receive this season.  My daughter has literally went through every page with a fine tooth comb fify-seven times!

"Oh mom!  I want this!"
"No!  Forget that look how cool this is!"

Right now they have some adorable holiday wear for young girls.  Here are a few of my little miss matched's favorites!

November Is Here!

Ahhh November you came so quickly.

I love October and I love November and my feelings towards other months aren't quite as immense with the passion I have for those two months.

Even though November is my birthday month I don't really eat it up for that reason.

Presents are just a perk.

I love the weather and the leaves and the trees.

I'm all about a good fire, good coffee, autumn brews.

Give me sweatshirts and sweaters and boots and dark nails.

It is no wonder this seems to be the fastest time of year....we only get this beauty for maybe 8 weeks and then the trees are bare and the world is too cold to move.

~*~

In case you haven't noticed I have been quite sad lately.

When our lives are turned upside down and the remedy isn't as quick as the snap of a finger... well its unfortunate.

But I am so blessed.

This month marks the true time of everyone being accountable for all they are blessed with and thankful for.

My list is long.

Starting today I vow to put my sadness away and focus on the positives.

Each day I will post a little blurb of what I am thankful for.

Many bloggers do this.

Many Facebookers will take the challenge.

I challenge you to join me.

Share with me daily what you're thankful for that particular day.

You can post it on the A Brownie World Facebook Page or on the blog post for the day.

It doesn't matter how big or small what you're thankful for is that day....it is the fact you are acknowledging it's existence and you are happy to have it in your life.

Let's go for nouns though ok?

Nouns - person, place, or thing.

K?

~*~

On this the first day of November I wish to share with you a person I am thankful for.

It's not my husband or mom or sixth removed cousin.

It's not my kid(s) or my dog.

They will get their day.

Today I want to take a moment and tell you how thankful I am for my friend Jen.

How's that for a fuzzy pic?  Eeeek!

She's a work-a-holic, amazeballs lady who I look forward to hanging out with once (wish it was more) a week.  She busts her tail between two full time nursing jobs and juggles everything life throws at her with humor and grace.

She's been an amazing friend to me and I think that's one of God's blessings in my life.

When I hit my low point she's supportive and smart.  She reminds me of the things that I fail to see.

I love her very much.

She is my November 1st -So-Thankful-For!
