Bundle up this weekend NC! The fall is coming on in to join us. Where this girl lives we are looking at lows in the upper 30's and highs around 60. Yes, that will freeze a southern girl! There is a lot going on in North Carolina this weekend so dive on in and find something fun to do!
Raleigh -
I'm hating this graphic. Some kinda serious.... |
Black Mountain -
I was told this was in Black Mountain but it could be just a tad bit up the road in Asheville :) |
Shelby-
Mush, Music and Mutts Fest 2015 is happening Friday & Saturday. On Friday you can catch the NC Brews & Chili Festival. Nothing goes better together than beer and chili, am I right? On Saturday you can catch the official NC Livermush Festival. I cannot really describe livermush to you but I can tell you I went years hating it and one night an ex boyfriend made it for me (he wasn't an ex then) and I fell in love with it....but not so much him. Awe shucks. These events will both be held in Shelby at the Historic Court Square. You should check it out, it will be fun.
Statesville-
I can remember this festival all the way back to when I was a wee little thing. The Carolina Balloon Fest is a huge celebration of hot air balloons in Iredell County. This festival will capture your imagination and your vision will be beautiful, massive balloons taking patrons up far, far, and away. Surrounding counties may even catch a glimpse of a hot balloon sailing through the sky on Saturday. It isn't just the balloons (50 will be on display/in flight) but there will also be beer and wine, foods, music, a run, a kids area, competitions and flight sessions.
Yadkinville-
The Yadkin Valley Wine Festival is the 17th and is FREE! If you choose to partake in the wines there is a charge of $25. Bring a photo ID please! If you are military, please bring your military ID for a $5 discount on your tickets. Over 15 Yadkin Valley wineries will be in attendanace and ready for your to partake of their delicious wines. Food options include Moe's Southwest Grill as well as local to Yadkin County fare.
Banner Elk-
I'm not kidding when I say this, as foreigners will certainly think she's off her rocker. The Woolly Worm Festival is this weekend! Yes, those furry worms that are orange and black - we celebrate them, don't you? The story goes that the woolly worm's pattern (orange/black) can predict the winter ahead. Leave it to Banner Elk to turn this into a fun tradition and festival. Instead of reviewing the pattern of color on the worms they race the worms to determine the winter's weather. The coolest part about this festival of worms, food, and fall fun is that the money it raises goes straight back into the local schools and community non profits. This is a huge festival focused around the racing of the worms and is also a fun time to catch some great mountain crafts and foods for the upcoming holiday season. Since it is the third weekend of October you're going to get to see the high country in its most beautiful autumn attire - reds, purples, and golds from the beautiful foliage.
Ocean Isle Beach-
I am ready to go, just pick me up on your way. OIB is our go to spot in the summer and a place that I adore. This weekend my favorite place will have my favorite seafood - oysters! The NC Oyster Festival 2015 celebrates its 35th year. This festival is food, music, arts, and the wonderful oyster. Brunswick County has a huge economic impact by the business of oysters. This weekend you can enjoy that Carolina dance the shag, cook offs, runs, muds, and more.
