Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina this weekend....
We are celebrating the fall all across the state and you need to celebrate with us! This is quite the time to come down for food, music, and the beauty of this state. Here's this weekends picks on the things to do
It all starts out with a dance party with the band
Continental Divide on Friday. On
Saturday five bands will keep the day grooving.
There are merchants and artisans and loads of food to enjoy. Go check out the seasonal changeover in the
mountains of NC this weekend.
This is a Brownie Friendly event J NC wine at its best at Shelton Vineyards in the
Yadkin Valley Wine Country! This event
features a meal of seasonal favorites (oyster stew, braised pork shanks with
apple cider barbecue sauce, gourmet smore bar, and wines will be available for
purchase on site. Perhaps my most
favorite bit of this event? Mulled wines
and spiked cider available!!!!
Talk about a celebrated NC event – this is one. The Autumn Leaves Festival marks the season
of fall in Northwestern NC. This
celebration of this area of North Carolina (and the southwestern corner of
Virginia) features bluegrass, soul food, and will get you ahead on Christmas
shopping with all the amazing vendors and craftsmen. Expect to see many of the Yadkin Valley Wineries
well represented as well!
Are you ready to travel the world but are limited on
funds? Then go to Raleigh this weekend
and enjoy the 30th Annual International Festival. The celebration will feature 63 different
nations with culture, arts, and foods.
This is an entire weekend event!
Take the family and make a mini trip of it.
If you are from NC then you know there is a dividing line
when it comes to barbecue (the chopped pork kind not burgers and beef). Yes, friends the bbq line of division is all
based on sauce and serving style. Even
though I am a Western NC born and bred kid I prefer Eastern barbecue. Oh mercy, I know! This weekend you can celebrate that
vinegar/mustard style base with blues, jazz, and beach music (The Tams). You can also throw out your arm in the corn
hole tournament. Oh and p.s. this event
is pitting the pitmasters against each other and it is free so you can try all
the barbecues and jam out for free!
(Note: You will have to pay for a
meal. But you can try it for free!)
It is true that when we talk fall we tend to look west at
our mountains. I’m daring you to look
due east. New Bern is kicking off fall
with its 35th Annual Mum Fest featuring aerial acrobatics, carnival
rides, food and music. The evening will
feature an art crawl and visit to many historical areas of one of Coastal NC’s
finest towns. Other fun events? A 5k & 10k event, chili cook off at
Havelock, and a ghost walk. (Note: This event will run for three weekends!)
