Happy September! We're in a transition period in North Carolina for festivals and celebrations. I know many of you have fun plans for the unofficial end to summer this weekend (a la Labor day) but if you don't....
Asheville - Downtown Art Walk visiting 20 galleries that show you why Asheville, NC is referred to as the Paris of the South. This walk consists of many different mediums and includes glass, jewelry, and photography. These walks will be held once a month through the fall.
Durham - The Bull City Rumble Vintage motorcycles and scooters will be all over Durham this weekend as they celebrate the bikes of the US, Europe and Asia.
Pinehurst - Taste of the New South Food, food, food. That should draw in you in enough. Pinehurst is going to tickle your taste buds with new takes on old Southern favorites, great wines, beers, and even some tailgate goodies.
Hickory - American Legion Fair Anyone here excited about fair season? I love the State Fair in Raleigh and I would love to visit this fair that isn't too far away from the world o' brownie. This marks the 102nd year of the Hickory American Legion Fair. This year's theme is Supporting our Farms.
Jonesville - Labor Day Weekend Flea Market In case you weren't aware flea markets and yard sales and Labor Day really fit together in North Carolina & Virginia. This weekend you can head over to Jonesville and fill your trunk with treasures and then partake in their fall festival.
Little Switzerland - Emerald Village Rockfest I bet you re read the name of that town twice, at least. Yep there's a town called Little Switzerland in NC. They are known for their gem mines. This weekend is all about the rocks baby. Learn some mining skills, go on some rocky adventures, and have a blast with your family at this event.
Franklin - Steven Curtis Chapman in concert When I think about Contemporary Christian Music Pioneers I think Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith and this dude - Steven Curtis Chapman. He'll be performing this weekend at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts. Check their schedule because they have some great acts coming to perform this season including: 90's country sensation Travis Tritt, country singer Josh Turner, and motivational speaker and author Lysa Tyerkeurst.
I don't live in NC but it looks like there's some entertaining stuff to do. I'd enjoy the Taste of the New South.

ReplyDeleteKnow what's happening in my town? 1) A ratchet gets a new install 2) A ratchet goes to a club 3) A ratchet loses said new install because another ratchet pulls it out when she's trying to "get up on MY man" 4) police come 5) all ratchets are locked up.
Annnnnnnndddd that's a week in my small town! No I don't live in Compton, Watts or Detroit.

DeleteI grew up on Steven Curtis Chapman and still love him. I read his wife's book a few years back about losing their adopted daughter and cried my eyes out. What a fabulous family! That Asheville art walk sounds so fun!
