This Weekend.....in North Carolina
Summer weeks go faster than any other season's weeks...well that's what I say.
Grandfather Mountain is hosting the 60th Annual Highland Games - Bust out your kilt and muscles and watch these crazy white boys lift trees with their bare hands. You think I'm kidding.
Marion Mountain Music - Come to Marion, NC (if you play or sing) and meet up with other musicians to jam out together. Seriously, its like a big meet up and jam with people you don't know. (July 9)
Wilkes County is all about good ole Tom Dooley this weekend - Have you heard the name Tom Dooley? Maybe not. A girl named Laura has been murdered and Tom Dooley is looking mighty guilty, or is he? This true story is one of our nation's first recounts of a crime of passion. The play will run all weekend at the Fort Hamby Amphitheatre. Admission runs from $12-$15.
Attention Bikers....meet at THE ROCK - Rockingham Dragway is hosting an East Coast Bikers Round Up this weekend. I'm not a biker so I'm not sure of what that means but I'm thinking a lot of leather, a lot of doo rags, and a lot of beer.
A raved about Blues event in Durham - Warehouse Blue Series is kicking off in Durham's Central Park. Free music and it's family friendly. You can enjoy this series all July long. This Friday - Mel Melton & The Wicked Mojos. (5:30 is the start time!)
Wilmington's got music downtown - Downtown Wilmington is hosting a series of free concerts this summer. Come out and enjoy all your favorite 80's hits this Friday from 6p-10p.
Sailboats in Beaufort - Head on down to one of my favorite seaside towns and enjoy the traditionally rigged up sailboats as they reenact how the news of the signing of the Declaration of Independence was shared with the Outer Banks.
You like blackberries? - Then go to Lenoir to the 14th Annual NC Blackberry Festival. There's a 5K, parade, Blackberry Princess Pageant, and lots of blackberries to buy and eat and cook and fix and...you get it!
Have a fun weekend!!!

The blackberry festival on it's own would be enough reason to come visit. A little far from here though, alas!
ReplyDeleteA blackberry festival?!? How fun! These are great posts...you should think of posting them on your local Patch site!
