I used to hold a lot of disgust for people who would tell me to pray about things. I'm an action person and I knew that prayer, alone, wouldn't suffice. Let me be honest with you, I still feel this way.
God gave us bodies and a brain and abilities to do more than just pray. I believe he expects us to pray and also to put ourselves in motion. If we start the actions he'll enter in and help it become more than we ever could.
I want you to be stirred and shaken. Do you watch the news? Are you disgusted when you read about children found in freezers? The youth drug problem? The homeless numbers continually rising?
Does that shake you up?
DO you want to make it better?
Are you left going, I can't.
Stop lying to yourself. You can.
It takes prayer & action.
Pray and then sign up to volunteer and or make the call to the group who needs your help. You are expected to be the hands and feet in this life.....not just the mouth.
Amen! Scripture tells us that sometimes we need to "be still". And that sometimes "The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent"
ReplyDeleteHowever I believe that the "be still" and "be silent" come just before the "MOVE"
And the prayer? That should be an ongoing part of the process!!
