Thankful: November 16
We finally found a United Methodist Church we enjoy and feel comfortable in.
My husband and I both grew up UMC kids. After we married we went to the church I grew up in. Unfortunately, that church is what is now known as a dying church. A good Sunday was more than 30 people in the pews and choir combined. A few of the younger congregates, myself included, tried to help up the the numbers and work for growth but it never happened.
Eventually we left.
The climate was not conducive to children or young adults.
We visited churches but never found that feeling of "this is it"....
We tried different denominations. Even though they a generally all about the same the things we had grown up learning were instilled in us, deeply. Those are the messages and beliefs we want our children to know - be open and be loving to all people no matter what.
Then a few weeks ago, on a whim and two invitations (randomly) that week, we visited a UMC a few miles down the road.
Let's just say this is our third week attending and we're feeling that this is it vibe.
Thankful for the freedom to worship where and when we wish today.
